Hi! I have Ehlers Danlos Hypermobility and was fused in 2020 from Skull to C3, as a result I have a difficult airway and must be intubated with Glidescope intubation. Between 2012-2017, I had a tummy tuck, breast implants, back lift (to remove excess skin only) and a thigh lift. I have never had an issue with healing. I had these procedures as a result of the excess skin. Are there any surgeons willing to do these procedures on someone with EDS with neck fusion? Thanks!
Answer: BBL with Lipo and Arm Lift Revision Dear Transforming.Myself, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Ehlers Danlos and BBL To get an assessment and each plastic surgeons personal opinion you’ll need to schedule in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have a proven track record for the BBL procedure. In the end your concerns are more anesthesia related than surgery related. If you tolerated skin surgery well then from healing perspective Liposuction and fat transfer will most likely not be an issue from a plastic surgery perspective. Plastic surgeons may want medical clearance from your primary care doctor or internist. You may want to check with your primary care doctor in advance to make sure that there OK with you having cosmetic surgery. Most likely they’ll be happy to support your endeavors. Delivering consistent quality results when it comes to liposuction and fat transfer is more difficult than most people believe it including plastic surgeons. To find the right provider I suggest relying exclusively on in person consultations. During consultations ask each provider to show their entire collection of before and after pictures. An experience provider should have no difficulty showing you a minimum of 50 sets up before and after pictures for common procedures like the BBL. Ask the providers to show pictures of patience with similar body characteristics to you around. Likewise you may want to ask to see examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and not so great outcomes. it’s reasonable to ask providers to show a diversity of outcomes and ask to see a more complete portfolio than just a handful of sample pictures representing the best results of the providers career. Plastic surgeons have quite different views in regards to what the female torso should look like and there is unfortunately a bit of a trend to create excessive buttocks with inappropriat Liposuction of the outer thighs creating what I sometimes called the lollipop look. look for providers who create natural smooth body contours with an S contour that follows the torso from the armpit to the knees. I also recommend reading all reviews and various physician review websites avoiding providers for any significant number of justified negative reviews. The absence of justified negative reviews is more important and more telling than having an abundance of positive reviews. You may find plastic surgeons I don’t want to do the procedure and plastic surgeons have the right to discern who is or who is not an appropriate candidate for surgery. You didn’t include pictures so we can’t make a baseline assessment. Good luck in getting your BBL. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
