Was offered a submaxillary gland reduction. Will I get a good result?

i'm 67, have very loose hanging neck skin. my glands are there, but i've seen them for years. I just dont like the idea of messing with glands. I did some research and dont like what i read. having facelift/necklift soon.- Doc is a facial plastic surgeon. I'm sure he can give me a good result without it. I'll get details re: how he reduces it, shaves? or reduces surgically. Thank you

In some patients portion of submandibular glands may be visible in the lateral neck, in particular after neck tightening and removal of fat deposits. In this group of patients reduction of the gland may be needed to avoid fulnes after surgery. In the hands of an experienced surgeon this is safe procedure and, in general, it will not significantly denmibish production of saliva. If you have any doubts, ask your surgeon to avoid that part of neck surgery. Good luck.

In some patients, some patients have sub maxillary glands that are very enlarged and ptotic. When the Neck becomes de-fatted, the Glands become more prominent. In certain instances, a portion of the gland can be removed to get better neck contouring. If you have large glands, then you'll have visible neck bulges after your facelift if they're not reduced
