Am I having some kind of reaction to the Juvederm injected in my lips? (Photo)

My lips now have a white-colored, almost scaly discoloration on them. It's been almost a week since the injection. And I've noticed a few bumps as well....that look almost like pimples.

Yes, this can be typical and it will resolve in 1-2 weeks. Icing, firm massage and cold compresses can help. I would wait a full 2 weeks before assessing results. Hope this helps

There can be some swelling and/or lumps after lip injections which can last 1-2 weeks. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Though some degree of tissue swelling is expected with a lip augmentation what I think you are referencing in your picture are fordyce spots present along your lip border.  These are normal findings in patients and do not require treatment.  Hope this helps.

This is pretty normal with lip fillers. The swelling will diminish over 2 weeks. the white spots are normal glands in the lips called Fordyce spots. You may notice them because your lips are a little swollen.The lumpiness you feel should smooth out over the 2 weeks.

This is exactly what happens to the lips once the swelling starts to go down after the treatment. Give your lips another one to two weeks and they will look absolutely normal once again. Good luck from New York City
