Is it okay to alter my compression garment?

Question

I got a compress garment after surg., but now I need a smaller one. I don't want to spend the money to get another one especially the office was trying to get me one the exact same size. I would really like to just have the one I have altered. The garment I have now has clasps up the front and I wear a tank top under for reason like not wanting the seams to bug me and such. does this sound ok to do?? The office really wanted me to fork over the money to get the one of their choice

I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for his/her patients.  Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you are healing at this time.
  
The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.

You've invested a lot of time and money in your liposuction. You don't want to get suboptimal results now by penny-pinching on your compression garment. Most dermatology offices do not make much, if any, profit selling compression garments. The one you have now may have stretched out. Follow your doctor's instructions and wear the correct compression garment to get the most uniform liposculpture reslts.

I recommend following up with your Doctor about your compression garment and getting a garment that fits. If it doesn't fit correctly, it can cause irregularities. For liposuction after care, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Thanks for the question and provided information as well. 
It is important for the compression garment to be very tight, for it to help with the swelling, after surgery, whether you alter yours or get a new one, but please, follow up close with your plastic surgeon.
