Am I a good candidate for a rhinoplasty? (Photo)

Question

Hi I have always hated my nose, how it projects when I smile and how large the tip of my nose is. I really am considering getting one for a while now but I want to make sure I am a good candidate. Thank you!!

Hi @Bellarose2025! I recommend seeing an expert rhinoplasty specialist for an in person examination. There are several options for you that can be determined after examination. A rhinoplasty in my opinion is one of the most difficult procedures to perform. In my practice, I utilize piezosurgery. Piezosurgery is a more gentle technique that allows for greater precision. Less bruising and swelling is common with Piezosurgery. In a typical rhinoplasty, a hammer and chisel technique is performed leading to more inadvertent fractures. Best of Luck, Dr. Nima!

Per your images and descriptions, your concerns could be improved with this procedure. It is possible to achieve the features you are wanting to improve and even assist with the nose base retracting when smiling which can make the appearance of the tip seem to project or droop down depending on the patient. There are multiple areas of the nose both internal and external that all work in conjunction for the overall appearance. I would recommend starting with a consultation with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty surgery to discuss if rhinoplasty can address your concerns. 
I would recommend writing down the following questions before scheduling your consultation:
1. Are you unhappy with the tip of your nose? 
2. Do you feel that your nose is too wide? 
3. Do you want to make your nostrils smaller in appearance? 
4. Are you looking to decrease the general size of your nose?

You have a somewhat wide and square (what we may call "boxy") tip of the nose.  There is also a bit of a tilt.  We should be able to make that area more refined and consistent with your goals.  You'd have a cast on the nose for one week, and should look good in about 10 days.

Good Afternoon! Thanks for your questions. You are a good candidate for a rhinoplasty. For the front view, you could refine the tip and narrow the middle third and bridge. You have a great profile so I wouldn't recommend drastic changes there. The approaches are open vs closed and it's the surgeon's preference (I prefer the prior). If you're interested in rhinoplasty, find a facial plastic surgeon with experience in rhinoplasty and the ability to morph your photos in clinic to a desired outcome. Best of luck!
