Will I be able to take off my compression garment 3 days after surgery?

Question

I am getting this procedure done on a Thursday and having guests over for a few hours on the Sunday. My doc has asked I wear compression for 3 days. Do you think it would hurt to take off for a few hours on the Sunday morning and back on in the afteroon and keep it on overnight?

Since you already invest time and money to have a procedure I don't advise any patient to remove the garment during the period their PS suggest because the compression does help a lot during recovery and consider that even if you're not wearing it, you'll be swollen and bruised and your guest will still be able to notice you had something done. My advise is to either go about with your visit wearing your garment or reschedule it.

It is common for doctors to require neck compression after chin liposuction. The duration can vary, with some recommending a few days and some recommending a few weeks. It will depend on the surgeon, the technique, and exactly what was done during the procedure. This is a question best asked to your surgeon.

Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

I normally have my patients wear a compression as much as possible for 1 week after liposuction of the neck, and then I have them wear it an additional week when they're at home.  I would ask your question to your particular surgeon about removing your compression garment for a few hours 3 days after surgery, as each surgeon will have their own preference.

It’s really not appropriate for another doctor to alter or change your postoperative instructions.
It’s pretty typical for people to take after compression garments while washing it or bathing etc.
I suggest using your own judgment or asking your provider.
