This is the before/during photos which is all that I have. They told me that the pouch could be due to either weight gain or an area that the doctor didn't feel needed to be liposuctioned. The solution was to get another liposuction done but I wanted more suggestions since I read online that multiple liposuction can cause the muscles to show when extending the neck and I don't want to spend money again to remove barely anything and for a result of that.

Answer: What can be done to improve my chin liposuction results The photographs demonstrate significant fat deposits located underneath the platysma muscle which is only accessible with a surgical neck lift. Liposuction cannot remove fat deposits located below the platysma muscle in the neck. Once the sub-platysma fat has been removed, then a platysma plasty is performed to significantly improve the jawline. Make sure your BMI is less than 30 before undergoing a surgical neck lift for diet resistant fat

Answer: Lacking results There are a few things that make giving you an assessment difficult. The first is that your head position is different in both pictures. Turning your head sideways will drastically change the contour around your chin and neck. Proper pictures should be taken using “plastic surgery photographic standards”(basically mugshots Front and side) You also mentioned weight gain but did not include any numbers. Patient to gain weight after liposuction will definitely see less impressive results. It isn’t just the subcutaneous fat that increases with weight gain but sub platysmal fat and fat in all the layers in all the tissues throughout the body. It’s not possible to make an assessment based on the pictures you’ve included and to give you useful information we really need to know if you had significant weight gain which will definitely lessen results most liposuction outcomes. It’s also important to recognize that fat is only one tissue layer in the neck and lower face region and it is not the primary tissue that determines what that area looks like. Liposuction can deliver impressive results on the chin and neck typically on young people with enough fat to remove will have good bone structure. The majority of people seeking chin and neck liposuction have a facial skeletal imbalance with a mandaible that’s small compared to their maxilla. This intern causes The underlying platysma muscle to drape the neck in a more oblique fashion creating a double chin and lack of jawline definition. For patients who lack quality results this usually comes down to either not having been a good candidate for the procedure and the first time, the procedure being done in sufficiently or less than in an ideal manner or a combination of both. Patients who lose weight after liposuction often see the results blossom into something better than they had hoped for. Patients who gain weight after the procedure see the opposite. Follow up with your provider or for A proper second opinion consultation schedule those as in person consultations with other local board-certified plastic surgeons. Ideally patients should come prepared for a second opinion consultations by bringing all before and after pictures as well as a copy of their operative report which should all be available from the surgeon who performed the procedure. Plastic surgeons are thoroughly taught the importance i’ve always taking quality before and after pictures. It’s a significant part of our training. The fact that your provider does not have proper before and after pictures makes me wonder if your doctor was a board-certified plastic surgeon? Hopefully they were and if so hopefully they’re doing a better job at making sure they get quality pictures before every procedure. At least in the past not having quality before and after pictures for every operation performed was grounds for failing our board examinations. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
