Does having lip filler make your lips more prone to sunburn? (photo)

Since I have had lip filler my lips always get so sunburnt. I never had this problem before. I was wondering if filler can make your lips more prone to sunburn, it tends to be my bottom lip. I constantly apply 50+ but some days it doesn’t work it gets so bad that it blisters and is painful.

Thank you for your question. Lip filler is very popular because it requires minimal recovery time. You may be experiencing some blistering, which is common for some patients. It shouldn't make you more prone to sunburn.  The tissue can be more stretched due to increase volume and make the tissue thinner and more prone to break down.  Keep them hydrated with a thicker lip balm like aquafor.   Any drying out can make them crack. Thank you!

Lip filler does not make you more prone to sunburn, however may predispose coldsore formation, as does sun exposure and the 2 may be complicated. It would be advisable to treat this area as coldsores to see if there is improvement

Hey there - thanks for the question - difficult to give you a definite answer I'm afraid as the picture is out of focus. Other possibilities to sunburn however are dermatitis or if blisters present maybe cold sores? I would go for a review with your local skin doctor.
