Is uneven lip filler normal after two weeks?

I got lip injections two weeks ago. The left side of my upper lip is much bigger than the other side. I thought it would disappear with swelling but it's still uneven. Is this normal? Does swelling sometimes last more than two weeks? I'm very upset because I feel like my doctor did this on purpose so that I would have to go back but I don't have the money to go back again. This is the first time I've done anything cosmetic and so far, will be the last.

Thank you for your question. There can be some swelling and/or lumps after lip injections which can last 1-2 weeks. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Dear Mermermeggers,dermal fillers hava significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.  Dissolving is unpredictable as well.Daniel Barrett, MD

Usually swelling will have subsided by two weeks post-treatment. I would advise you return to the practitioner who treated you and ask them to even them out. Most people have slight asymmetry and sometimes it can become more obvious after dermal filler.

If your lips are uneven after two weeks then I would encourage you to return to your treating provider to have the filler dissolved.  It is an art to inject fillers, especially in the lips.  Please consult an expert in cosmetic lip injections for the best results.  Best, Dr. Green

Hi there! After 2 weeks swelling and full results should be visible. We are not 100% symmetrical side to side so it is normal to have some asymmetry. Your cosmetic Injector should be able to see you, re-evaluate, and improve significant procedure related lip asymmetry at no cost. Remember, worst case scenario, Hyaluronic Acid filler can be (usually) readily dissolved.

Hey there - bruising should have subsided by now but its possible for residual asymmetric swelling. A picture may help for a more detailed opinion but if you've any concerns your injector should be happy to reassure you or offer correction if needed.

At this point, all swelling should have subsided. I would schedule another visit with your injector and ask what they would do with this problem. It shouldn't cost you any more money to correct this problem unless this was a pre-existing issue which might not have been recognized prior to injections. He/She should have taken pictures prior to injection and they can be compared with your current situation.

There can be some residual swelling after two weeks. However, it is hard to make any comment without being able to see or examine the area.  I would return to the injector and they should correct the asymmetry for free.  Discuss with them what you don't like and see if they can correct that.  Good luck with your  treatment and correction.

without a photo or knowledge of how much was injected and what product it is hard to say. In any case there should be no charge for a revisit to evaluate and if there is truly an asymmetry the injector should want to do any correction at no charge. At the 2 weeks point there should be little swelling left. Good luck
