Should I be concerned that my lip is literally swollen and bruised bad? Lip fillers yesterday.

I jut got lip fillers yesterday 1/17/18. I am a little concerned because my lip is literally swollen and bruised bad I am beyond mad that I have to walk around like this and I paid $595 it’s not painful it jut feels like I have a big grape on my lip and it’s embarrassing. How long will I be walking around with my lip like this?

It is possible to develop bruising and swelling after injection of lip fillers, but I would say that your swelling and bruising is worse than most people would get.  I would not be concerned though.  Your swelling and bruising should resolve completely, but it could take a week or so for your appearance to improve.  Cold compresses to the area may help.

The swelling from a filler is unpredictable and some patients can get swelling days later.  Bruising can usually be avoided on the lips as long as you are not taking any blood thinners.  I would wait two weeks for the bruising and swelling to resolve. You can ice and if your physician has the V-Beam laser it will reduce the bruising from the procedure.  Please consult an expert in lip injections for the best cosmetic results. Best, Dr. Green

Anytime a patient has an injection, there is always a possibly of bruising and/or swelling. Typically swelling is the worst the first 48 hours. Bruises can last 7-10 days depending on how bad the bruise is. Although it is a risk there are a lot of way's preventing both bruising and swelling.

Thankyou for your question.Unfortunately you have bruised a lot and this makes the swelling worse.keep icing the lip as this helps. Lips are very vascular and can as you aware bruise badly. This is why i tell my patients  to plan ahead just in case .It will settle but it will take time.Good luck

although any injection can cause swelling and bruising a correctly injected lip, using the proper product, proper technique and proper amount should result in hardly any bruising. Swelling is an individual thing. I have seen extreme swelling and hardly any swelling. Not predictable. The swelling and bruising will go away. once that happens have the injector check the symmetry of the lips, look for high points and "bumps". You didnt state how much filler and which filler was used-important to know. Good luck

It is very common to have swelling and bruising after lip fillers. There is nothing worrisome regarding the pictures I see. This can take up to a week or slightly longer to resolve. Take arnica and sleep upright for the next couple days.

I always recommend a patient call's the office they received the treatment. With any injection there is always a possibility of bruising or swelling unfortunately. A bruise can last 7-10 days depending on how severe it is. Call your doctors office and see if they offer treatments to reduce both the bruising and swelling.
