Do lip fillers actually weigh your upper lip down more if you have a long philtrum?

Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs.  If you have a long philtrum, you may benefit from a lip lift.  This shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa show of the upper lip, increases incisor show and pulls up the corners.  Lip fillers by themselves are low weight that does not descend the lip.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Without an image, I would recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Volbella, Restylane, and Juvederm are good to create a symmetrical lip. If you have a long philtrum then fillers may not be the best options for lips because it can make the upper area too large. But sometimes not. That's where lip lifts come in and play a role for patients who have long upper lips. Hi. Thanks for your message. Lip filler will not weight down the lip or cause an elongated philtrum column. The filler can be placed to actually upturn the lip to reveal more pink and volumize the lip. We prefer the use of Vollure in the lips as this is a long lasting and smooth product. Lip augmentation is not going to make a lip hang down more no matter how long your philtral columns are. In the majority of people philtral columns need to be augmented after they start to get flatter. Good luck from New York City

This is a good question about lip filler. If injected in a certain manner filler can elevate the lip somewhat as we see a lot of patients who have an elongated nose to lip distance. While a procedure to shorten this is best if the filler is injected into the cupids bow and the philtral columns or ridges it can look more elevated. Also some Botox placed in the upper lip ridge can further relax the muscle causing it to elevate..the so called popular lip flip. 

Hi Mishalady,Though there are no photos that we can assess, generally, if you dislike your long philtrum and you need red lip enhancement, injection of a selective moldable filler to enhance the vermillion border will make the philtrum appear shorter and mimic an upper lip lift effect.
