Bad scarring post alarplasty. Can it still be fixed? (Photo)

Question

I am 2 weeks post op. Left side is much worse than the right. Note swollen and te and scarring more evident. Will the indentation still rise up and be less noticeable with contractubex use?

I'd be patient with this. At only 2 weeks post surgery the scars are likely to be a little red and lumpy. You will find that they will settle considerably over the coming weeks and months. Hypertophic or keloid scars here are not that common, but not impossible. If the scars start to become significantly lumpy then consider seeing your surgeon as there are treatments such as steroid injections that can help.

Hi. Thanks for posting your questions and photos.
Given you are only 2 weeks post surgery, it is too early to judge the scar. The wound itself will take around 4-6 weeks to heal, and then it will take many months for the scar to mature. Follow your surgeon's scar management plan - this will usually include moisturisation and massage, at the appropriate time. Give it more time to settle, and continue follow up with your surgeon.

Hi bea0463,Since it is only 2 weeks post-op, you can still expect some improvement with time but should it still bother you at 6 months post op, you can consider laser or mechanical resurfacing by dermabrasion.
