Suuuuuper nervous. Is the chin lipo procedure worth it?

Hello doctors, I'm searching for some words of encouragement. I have my chin lipo scheduled for oct 21. The doctor is very experienced with this procedure but I am still really nervous because I have read cases where people have experienced irritation to their marginal mandibular nerve and it totally scares me!! Is the procedure worth it?? He assured me it's really rare and he's only ever had one case in his practice but that patient also got a neck lift and she regained motor ability eventually

All surgery has risks. These injuries are traction injuries in the vast majority of cases and should get better on their own without any specific treatment.

Much more information is needed, such as a full set of facial photographs to determine if you're a good candidate for the procedure. The marginal mandibular nerves located below the platysma muscle in the neck, and should not be a factor when undergoing liposuction of the fat deposits above the muscle. If there are fat deposits below the  platysma muscle, then a neck lift procedure is required with a platysma plasty

If Liposuction stays below the border of the mandible then the chance of damaging this nerve it’s almost 0. This typically happens when the plastic surgeon is trying to reduce jewels. When treating just a neck and chin area it should be extremely rare.

When it happens it’s always temporary.

Most people regain function within days to weeks. In severe cases it can take a few months but these are really rare.

Personally I would be more concerned about the aesthetic outcome and confirming that you’re a good candidate for the procedure.

If you’ve done your homework and the surgeon has a proven track record then you’ll be fine.
