Can I take care of myself after chin lipo, facial and buccal fat removal?

I don’t want anybody to know that I’m getting some work done. I going to hire a nurse for the first 24 hours to care for me after surgery. But I was hoping that I am able to take care of myself afterward.

Liposuction to the face and chin and buccal fat reduction are associated with relatively little discomfort, swelling and bruising. Many surgeons advise using a compression garment to help decrease the swelling in the first days or week after surgery.

Soft diet is also an important recommendation and it is better to have a reasonable amount of food so you do not feel compelled to go shopping.

It is eminently manageable after the first 24 hours. Good luck with your treatment.

Chin liposuction is performed with a 2 mm liposuction cannula through a 2 mm incision hidden in the chin fold. The procedure can be performed under local anesthetic, sedation, or general depending on patient preference. The patient goes home the same day. The patient wears a compression garment around the head for the first few days to a week. There will be some bruising and swelling that will quickly fade. You should be able to take care of yourself after the first 24 hours.

The recovery from chin lipo, facial and buccal fat removal does not require the need for a post surgical nurse. We perform these procedures under sedation anesthesia so patients are not allowed to drive on the day of surgery. In most cases, the removal of buccal fat will limit your ability to chew for a few days so it is helpful to stock up on some soft foods. Most patients are able to care for themselves immediately following this surgery since there are no drains, or wound care.

Recovery after these facial slimming procedures is fairly easy. You will need to rest and take it easy for the first 24-36 hours but most people can easily recover independently. There is little pain, some swelling, and minimal bruising. Techniques that minimize trauma to the tissues help reduce overall recovery time. You may also want to get Arnica and Bromelain tablets which reduce bruising and swelling.
