I have lost a lot of weight Over the years and seem to have been left with excess fat on one side of my chin underneath. It makes my face look very uneven. What's the best way to get it removed or made to look better?
Answer: Asymmetric volume under the chin Thank you for your question and sharing your photographs. Although this seems to be excess fat, it could be related to the shape of the floor of the mouth. In some instances there are gaps in the muscles of the area that produce differential support.. A clinical examination can help to determine the level of the fullness. You can try to assess this also by tightening the neck muscles (which happens when you show your lower teeth) and to see if the thickness of the fatty tissue over the muscle is different between the right and left sides, or if it is symmetric. If it is symmetric, the problem is deep seated and would require a different treatment protocol, most likely along the lines of an anterior neck lift intervention. An ultrasound examination can often identify if there are areas of discontinuity in the support of the floor of the mouth that could contribute to the shape.

Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Uneven chin fat only on one side. What's the best way to get it removed or made to look better? Hello, thank you for your question. It seems that you may benefit from a chin liposuction, It is a simple procedure, and can yield a fantastic result when performed properly. I would recommend an in-person consult with a board certified and experienced facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to look at your neck in person and provide you with advice on whether an additional procedure would be necessary.

Answer: Uneven chin fat It is a bit unusual to naturally have more fat on one side under the chin than the other. I would recommend seeing an ENT doctor to have your neck evaluated first. It is possible that what you are seeing is not due to fat.

Answer: Uneven chin after weight loss Thank you for sharing the photos. The photos are not very clear, but if I am correct, you seem to have more bulk on the left submental area(under your chin). Uneven fat loss after losing weight is rather very unusual. On the other hand you could have perhaps had a lump which has become more prominent after having lost the tissue bulk that was perhaps hiding it before. I think the safe approach would be to see an specialist and get a scan of your neck to exclude a lump. Lumps in anterior neck/chin are not uncommon. You can ask your GP to refer you to NHS for this and an Ultrasound Scan of your neck to exclude a lump. Once you are reassured of that, you could perhaps consider treatment depending on the nature of pathology that is causing the bulk.
