I had liposuction of the chin and neck August 2018 and have had this semi hard/soft lump that looks almost like a double chin however it never goes away no matter how much weight I loose. I also have little to no feeling in the area.
Answer: Neck lift surgery Thank you for your question and sharing your photographs. The images suggest that the liposuction has been slightly too effective in the lower part of the neck and has not contributed so much under the chin. One of the potential problems with repeat liposuction is that the skin under the chin may look the same as in the lower part of the neck which is generally problematic. A formal neck lift procedure is more likely to help reduce the volume excess which may be part fatty tissue part digastric muscles and maintain some more of the superficial fatty tissue for the smoothness of the skin contours. In women, more than in men it is important to maintain a layer of fatty tissue under the skin to allow the skin to look smooth. This is because women have softer skin and in men the beard makes the skin thicker and more rigid. In the lower part of the neck the situation is the same for both women and men.

Answer: Chin lump The lump may be residual fat, but it looks like too much fat was removed in other areas. In order to improve the appearance of over-treated area, I would recommend a platysmaplasty procedure to tighten the platysma. Through this same incision, the "lump" can be seen to determine the best course of treatment. There is a second compartment of fat below the platysma muscle and this may be contributing the this lump.

Answer: Is this fibrosis or additional fat left the neck Since you are had previous surgery, an In-person examination is going to be required to make a determination about how best to proceed. It is also important and understand that there are 2 compartments of fat in the neck, and they are located above AND below the platysma muscle itself. A surgical neck lift is required to remove both compartments of fat and tighten the anterior platysma muscle bands that are present.

Answer: Undesirable Liposuction outcome It looks like you were Over treated with too much fat removed. Was this done with a power device such as VASER? Correcting poorly done Liposuction especially if done too aggressively can be very difficult and sometimes not possible. One option is to convert this to a skin tightening procedure like a facelift. I would be very careful with further Liposuction. You will definitely require in person consultations. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
