I'm a 52 year old caucasian male with fair skin, 5'9" tall and 190lbs, my BMI is 29.7. I have been researching the BBL now for a long time and drowning in a sea of information and misinformation. I have a rather flat backside I have never been happy with, and I attend the gym regularly and have done every kind of gluteal and leg exercise known to mankind and my glutes just do not want to grow.. My main question is am I too old for this procedure now? I have read after 50 the fat doesn't "take"?
Answer: Male BBL Candidate Thank you for your question. 52 is not too old to have a BBL as long as you are healthy and are cleared for surgery by your physician. Everyone's amount of fat survival is different, but typically about 20% does not survive. You do seem to be a good candidate for the BBL. The BBL includes 360 lipo, which is lipo of the upper and lower abdomen, the upper and lower back and the flanks. In addition, if you do not have enough fat in these areas, liposuction can be performed in many other areas of the body for fat transfer to the buttocks, such as the upper arms and chin. That said, depending on your desired results, you may be asked to gain some weight. I suggest you schedule a consult for a proper evaluation. Make sure your surgeon you choose has extensive experience with male BBL procedures and clean credentials. Always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Take care, Moises Salama MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Not too old You are not too old for a BBL. You are indeed a perfect candidate for liposuction to lovehandles, lateral torso and a bit to abdomen and use that moderate amount of fat you have, to transfer to buttocks for a masculine shape. Your abdominal protruding appearance is because you have visceral fat, and liposuction won’t reduce that volume. So you must lose some weight before surgery to be totally flat after. Be encouraged. Answer: BBL - age Nope I think you could benefit from the body contouring and then the enhancement from the BBL. Look for an ASPS label to check if your surgeon is board certified. Then make sure the surgeon has experience with BBL's and has the correct equipment including PAL and even intraoperative ultrasound. Fat take rate is usually around 40-60% in any age group, however it's only part of the procedure. The other part is the body contouring. Best Wishes!!

Answer: Am I Too Old for Fat Grafting? Thanks for your question. When performing fat grafting the "take" of the grafted fat is somewhat unpredictable. Sometimes 60% of the graft may live or "take", many times it's less than that. There are measures that can be taken to maximize the fat graft survival. Such as avoiding excess pressure on the graft sites, keeping the area warm and staying well hydrated should help. Hyperbaric oxygen treatments can also be a benefit. Being young and healthy is a benefit for recovery from any surgery. Although being 50 years old should not keep you from having a reasonable outcome/"take" from fat grafting.

Answer: 52 y/o and BBL Based on the pictures you appear to be good candidate for this procedure. From a professional point of view this is not an impediment to have the procedure done, however, your pre-ops labs and cardiologist evaluation must be optimal before the procedure. Respectfully, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
