Can they use liquid bandage to close breast implant revision incision?

Dear tayshcole,
for scars, I close all of my incisions in 5 layers and do not use absorbable sutures because they cause inflammation and worse scarring. I tape all of my incisions in the office visits once a week for six weeks after surgery to improve the appearance. After taping, I start my patients on a scar gel therapy for 3 months that they have to put on their incisions twice daily.You should discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon as different surgeons have different approaches in scar management.

You still will have internal stitches no matter how the outside is closed. Please ask your surgeon this question since she/he is the one doing the surgery.

The incision for breast implant revision is usually closed with dissolvable sutures. This gives the best support for the healing tissues and does not require removal of the sutures. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. If you are worried about scarring there are many product options to promote healthy scar healing.

If you are going bigger, this will stretch the incision and make healing more diffucult. IF the incision opened up and the implants got exposed and infected they would need to be removed. So, go with real stitches done by a real plastic surgeon. Most use dissolvable ones that don't need to be removed.
