32YO Male, underwent vaser neck liposuction approximately 4-5 weeks ago. To me, the results are extremely underwhelming (see pictures attached). My question is: looking at it, I think that only a bit has been taken out under the chin only, and very little if at all around the jawline and below, around the base of the neck. I wanted a more defined look, especially around the jawline. Keen to hear thoughts on this and how I should approach this moving forward?
Answer: Outcome after liposuction In order to make an assessment we really need to see full face pictures in proper angles. From the pictures you did post I would say your neck it’s definitely would be challenging to get a good result from just liposuction. You’re not me me it’s a little on the extreme side with your neck literally beginning at the tip of your chin. There is more involved here than just a fat distribution issue. Most likely to get impressive results you would need to have the facial skeletal imbalance dealt with Augmentin your mandible and dealing with laxity of the underlying platysma muscle and skin. There’s a good chance you have sub platysmal fat that cannot be removed with Liposuction as well. I agree with you the results are not impressive but in your case it’s possible liposuction simply is going to be limited in what it can deliver. I don’t think it’s fair for anyone to say your procedure was done correctly or done poorly or there is more room for improvement with further Liposuction. What I can tell you is that it’s very important to have an accurate assessment which means having a very clear understanding of what the underlying problem is. In a sense and aesthetic diagnosis. If the problem is inherently based on a skeletal imbalance then treating fat isn’t treating the problem. For this reason I would encourage you to have in person consultations. When you do bring proper before and after pictures and the operative report from your previous procedure. I would also encourage you to follow up with your provider to see what he or she has to say about the yard, and what their suggestions are. Like I said it could’ve been well done liposuction on someone who simply wasn’t a good candidate. I wonder if some of this discussion came up during the consultation? Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
