My surgery is in a month & I have a few questions (will be checking with my surgeon on all these things, but would like other opinions too) 1. Do I have to remove clip-in hair extensions for the surgery? 2. Are eyelash extensions a problem during surgery? (I will be consciously sedated, my eyes will not be taped shut) 3. How long prior to surgery should I discontinue using Phentermines? How long after surgery is it safe to use again? 4. Conscious Sedation: will I be able to feel anything/move?

Answer: Breast augmentation and pre-op protocol Advice and protocols vary from surgeon to surgeon. Most important is to follow your surgeons advice because his or her approach is based upon their experience with your procedure. I use general anesthesia so metal clips should be removed, eyelashes extensions are removed, phentermine is stopped 1 to 2 weeks ahead and commenced 4 to 5 days after, and patients do not feel anything during surgery.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author

Answer: Breast Augmentation - Surgery Preparation Thank you for your questions. I advise patients to discontinue these types of medications 2 weeks prior and after surgery, however check with your surgeon regarding the Phentermine. The extensions can remain attached, unless they contain metal. Your eyelash extensions will not be a problem during surgery. During conscious sedation, you can move around and will not likely feel pain, but may feel tugging. Best of luck with your surgery.
