I am now 6 weeks and some days post op sub muscular high profile breast augmentation 385cc, i feel great, I'm healing up nicely, i want to start upper body workout with biceps and triceps now, per my MD it would be okay by 6 weeks. But my question is what are the risks of a hematoma at this point of time? i don't want to mess anything up. Any recommendation on what the maximum weights i should be carrying? Thanks!
Answer: Hematoma risk Dear megancannova, most plastic surgeons recommend patients to wait 6 weeks before starting with exercises. At this point, the risk of hematoma is low. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Hematoma following breast augmentation It would be very unusual....although not entirely impossible....to develop a hematoma 6 weeks following breast augmentation surgery. I usually recommend that my patients wait a minimum of six weeks before initiating any aggressive upper body exercise after breast augmentation.

Answer: Hematoma Development Hello,Thank you for your question. Aside from forceful impact and injury to the breast, resuming regular activity at 6 weeks post op is standard and should not cause you to be at risk of a hematoma. If you aren't sure about activities you are cleared for, ask your surgeon. All the best

Answer: Work outs at 6 weeks Thank you for your question. Although post operative instructions do vary from one plastic surgeon to another, my advice is to lift nothing greater than 15 pounds for a full 4 weeks after a breast augmentation procedure and that walking during this time is permissible. Best to follow the specific instructions given to you by your plastic surgeon. Good luck.
