Which would be a better lip filler? Restylane L or silk?

Question

I know the silk has a smaller molecule and I believe the L contains lidocaine. I was wondering if there was a difference with the lips and if one will outlast the other? I have very thin lips for a 26 year old and I've always wanted to wear lip stick, but can't because it doesn't look good, so I want to fill them. I've done research on juvaderm and restylane and found more doctors prefer restylane with the lip area. Thank you.

Volbella, Restylane, and Juvederm are good fillers to use to create a symmetrical lip. NovaThreads can also be used to improve lift and shape. Implants or fat are alternatives. Why limit yourself to 2 choices when there are so many?   The best answer to your question is to determine the overall look you are seeking.  If you desire dramatically fuller lips, softer lips, subtle lips, etc?  Seek a qualified injector to help determine best filler and achieve the look you desire.

Hello CJameson.Restylane L and Silk are both great in the lips! It's a matter of preference. I feel that silk gives a more natural lip pout while the Restylane L can be extra pouty. Silk can swell more than L, but once the swelling is gone - it looks good.I suggest you see an experienced injector for a formal evaluation.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO :)

Thank you for your question. The Silk would be better than the lyft. The Silk is designed to work near the mouth area. The lyft will be too firm and may cause the area to look stiff. Good luck!

It is dependent on your expectations/needs with lip augmentation and proper professional assessment. Restylane-L will give more volume and structure, whereas Restylane Silk will provide a softer-looking, more hydrated lip.

Traditional Restylane is great for patients wanting more volume in the lips, while Silk is excellent for patients who want to define the lips and smooth lines on and around the lips.  The choice of product depends on your anatomy and your treatment goals.  Restylane Silk will provide a supple, softer appearance to the lips and act as a "lip liner" by defining the lip border. It can also be used to soften fine lines around the lips.  However, it provides minimal volume.  Restylane is fantastic for patients who are mainly wanting to add volume and definition to the lips.  I would suggest a consultation with an experienced provider who can work with you to develop the best treatment plan to meet your needs.  Both are excellent products and yield beautiful results.

Restylane Lyft is used to add volume to the face. I wouldn't use it in the lips. Restylane Silk and Volbella are my choices for lip augmentation. A board-certified dermatologist will be able to make the right recommendations for your lips, based on their shape and what would look most harmonious with the rest of your features.

Both Restylane L and and Restylane Silk are excellent products for injection into the lips, however their results are somewhat different.  Restylane L has a larger hyaluronic acid particle size, and will provide a little more dramatic volume and shape enhancement to the lips.  Restylane Silk has smaller particles, and is better for smoothing out fine lines, and providing subtle volume to the lips.  Both Restylane Silk and Restylane are formulated with lidocaine.  
If you feel your lips are very thin, and would like to add more dramatic volume, I would suggest starting with a product like Restylane or Juvederm as these are better for plumping the lips.  I often like to layer a softer filler (like Volbella, the newest FDA-approved lip filler in the US) on top of these products to smoothen out texture and hydrate the lips.
