Asymmetry in the face is actually common and normal. It is very rare that anyone has a completely symmetrical face; those lucky few are super models. For the rest of us, the choice is to make peace with our asymmetries or to fix them. Your nostrils can be repositioned and/or your nasal bone straightened, if need be. (It’s difficult to visualize the bone in the photo you provided owing to the shadows). If you’re troubled by your nose and feel that it detracts from your attractiveness, then start consulting with facial plastic surgeons to see if rhinoplasty would be a solution for you. I hope this helps.
You have not told us if this is after an operation or naturally so. Most people do not have a perfectly symmetric nose, so if that's the case, then there's nothing abnormal about your nose.
It is very important to realize that even in normal good-looking people there is asymmetry of facial features. As long as it is not distracting from the beauty of the face there is no reason to address it or correct it.RegardsDr. J
Hello and thank you for your question. Nostril asymmetry is usually related to the underlying cartilage structure of the lower lateral cartilage. This can be improved with surgery. Make sure you specifically look at before and afterpictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeonand not just a computer animation system. The most importantaspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seekconsultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluateyou in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Typically the nose leans one way or another because of a deviated septum or deviated bones. The picture that you show makes it hard to assess without seeing the full face. Your doctor can evaluate you during the physical examination to determine the exact cause.
I think that you have to show full face photos and in multiple views to give you a reasonable answer. Facial asymmetry can contribute to the tilting to one side.
A full set of facial photographs and an in-person examination are going to be required to make a determination about what is causing the nose to be crooked. Twisted nasal bones are straightened with osteotomies. Crooked upper lateral cartilages are usually treated with a spreader graft placed underneath the concave side. A tip rhinoplasty is performed with asymmetric cartilage removal and cartilage grafting techniques to adjust tip asymmetry. A deviated caudal septum can also be straightened when necessary for the that area of the nose which can make the nostrils crooked. Hi. The "why" is simple: You are human and there is not such thing as symmetry in a human face. 85% of humans have significant facial asymmetry. The two halves of the body are not equal. Thats normal. But there are ways of improving some asymmetries as long as you are aware that perfect symmetry is absolutely impossible.
Generally, the lower nose is supported by the foundation of nasal cartilage. Essentially, in your nose, the cartilage is asymmetric and malpositioned. The best answer for correcting would probably entail a rhinoplasty, however, you could always try with a non-surgical rhinoplasty at first to see if success could be achieved more simply. Then, if that doesn't work then go forward with a rhinoplasty.
Thank you for your question. More detailed and better focused photographs from the sides and from underneath the nostrils could help diagnose or difficulty. Most commonly when the nose is crooked and the nostrils are different the problem is an underlying deviation of the septum inside the nose.
