Do textured implants take longer to soften?

Question

I'm 3 1/2 weeks out from my remove and replacement w/ a mastopexy, and Sientra textured rounds are starting to soften up. That makes me very happy. I was pretty swollen, especially in my cleavage, and very sensative, but I'm starting to see what they're going to look like . Has anyone noticed that the textured implants take longer to soften up? I am liking my shape though, and they never seemed to have that upper pole weirdness that I did with my original smooths.

Yes, in my experience with Sientra textured round implants, sometimes they can initially seem a little firm - almost like an early capsule - and then soften up over about 3 months.  Hang in there.  Speak to your surgeon about your concerns.

Sometimes, as the smooth implants move in the pocket, but this varies from patient to patient but by 3 months you should be close to your final softness.

Yes it is my experience that Sientra textured implants take about 3 months to soften. They will soften as anytime you have a mastopexy the breasts always feel slightly firmer than with only an augmentation,however with Sientra you will maintain a youthful  firmness overtime. Hang in there you will love them.

In a 2nd. procedure, like yours ( for it is  a replacement),  patients tend to be more swollen and for a longer time. This does not have to do with the type of implant placed, it is because the scar tissue takes longer time to resolve  inflammation than a virgin one.

Thank you for your question.  From our experience, it does take a little longer for the textured implants to soften in comparison to their smooth gel counterparts.  The textured sientra implants are great products that work extremely well for specific patients.

Textured implants should not be any more firm unless they are the form-stable gummy implants which tend to be firmer.

Modern textured breast implants which have cohesive gel can feel slightly firmer then smooth walled breast implants in some patients.  However in most cases I can tell the difference after 3-4 months.   You're only 1 month out so I would expect that your implants will become softer in the next 2 months.
