How much is round Sientra Silicone cost per pair ? Why some doctors said $2000 (east coast) ...some doctor said $1000 (west coast)....why there is a big different between the price. I thought the Silicone itself should cost the same ...it doesn't matter where..

Pricing varies according to what a surgeon wants to charge and their cost.  You should mention the price discrepancy to your surgeons.

Thanks for your question. In terms of implants, silicone gel implants, particularly the latest generation or "gummy bears," are considerably more expensive than saline-filled implants. This is because they cost more to manufacture, and are arguably more durable and are preferable to saline implants in several ways. Most surgeons and patients feel that these implants create a superior look and feel. Sientra implants also come with the added assurance of a warranty against capsular contracture. There are several models of the Sientra round implant, but there should not be much difference in the price between smooth, textured, and the different base shapes and projections. Some surgeons may get the implants at a slight discount due to the volume of implants they buy from the company. However, in general, most surgeons pay roughly the same price for these implants, and the $2,000 figure you've been quoted per pair is closer to the norm. If you've come across a surgeon offering a much lower price than the average, you should be suspicious. Good luck!

The breast implant is only a portion of the cost, and the implant itself cost to the plastic surgeon may be different based on the volume of implants that are purchased during the year, whether the surgery center purchases the implants (upcharge more), etc. This is basically the same for Sientra, Allergan and Mentor breast silicone implants. Sientra Implants are the most highly cohesive silicone (less likely to leak and more likely to retain shape) available for the most common implants used. TheC3 Program provdes textured breast implant patients with a guarantee beyond the standard manufacturer’s warranty.The experience of the surgeon, geographic location, length of the procedure, whether the procedure will be done in an out patient surgery center vs plastic surgeon's office, anesthesiologist (MD) vs nurse anesthetists (RN), whether the implant is shaped, etc. all make a substantial difference in the overall cost.

Dear Rosess,        I do not use Sientra implants, but as a general rule, silicone implants cost 3 times more than saline implants. So why use silicone implants ?  With saline implants a small incision can be made under the areola where as a large silicone implant requires long incision in the submammary fold which can give a very unattractive scar. Forcefull push of the silicone implants into the pocket can weaken the shell and increase the likelihood of leakage. In the right experienced hands , saline implants are very natural and attractive. Consult with board certified plastic surgeons who do lots of saline implants surgery and check the before and after pictures to make sure that you like the results. I think you are asking about the actual cost to the surgeon for the actual implants. The companies do set the price per implant and will range from $600 to $1000 each, so $1200-$2000 per pair. Each surgeon is able to negotiate a price with the company based on how many they buy per month/quarter/year. This is why some doctors like myself who specialize in breast augmentation and operate in their own private facility can pay a lower price for the implants which in turn helps the patient save some money. Other surgeons who operate in a hospital are forced to pay what the hospital charges for the implants, which is usually 50% higher than the actual price. Your surgeon should be able to tell you what her/she pays for the implants. There doesn't seem to be a reason to hide it and it really shouldn't be a secret.

Your question is a good one. I have two key points of view that might be helpful to you.First, silicone gel implants are more expensive than saline counterparts. The price of the silicone implants does vary by practice and by region. In my practice, we source gel implants from three esteemed companies: Mentor, Allergan and Sientra. Within the family of gel implants in these three companies there are many different styles, sizes and shapes. The beauty of gel implants - especially the new 5th generation Gummy Bear - is the ability to customize. My point is that not all gel implants are the same. As you do your research, please be sure you are making an apples-to-apples comparisons. There may also be some pricing variation based on size of practice and regionality. Second, while implant-type selection is always best addressed in a personal consultation, please know that in my opinion (and that of hundreds of happy patients) silicone gel implants - and especially the Gummy Bear implant - produces superior outcomes, especially if you are looking for a very natural look. Surgical technique is very important. I have placed nearly 500 Gummy Bear implants - recovery times, outcomes and aesthetics over time are just exceptional. And today, there is a strong fact base to demonstrate that the textured and shaped Gummy Bear implants may eradicate capsular contracture, one of them most common breast augmentation malfunctions.  Good luck to you as you do your research. Pricing is an important consideration, but never compromise when it comes to medical care and your body.

It is very important for choosing an implant not to valuate it for the cost. It is a matter of  3 important things  to look for :1- Good appearance or results,2- Durability of  implants and results, and3- Low statistics of capsular contraction.This is something patients have to consider when choosing an implant. I would not use any other implant, if possible, with my patients due to my good experience with them.

Breast implant cost is a very frequently asked question.  Sientra has two types of implants for breast augmentation.  Similarly the other implant manufactures, Allergan and Mentor also have two implant types. One type is Sientra's round implant which is similar to the round implants that Allergan and Mentor offer. The type is the anatomically shaped implant and all three companies have similar implant shaped "gummy bear' implants although Sientra has more size and shape alternatives in this category than the other companies. The cost for these implants is about the same from company to company but each company charges more for their anatomically shaped products.  This additional cost is usually between $500 and $1000 more for the shaped.Despite the added cost, shaped breast implants are well the worth the difference if you are a candidate.  The shape is more natural.  Simply put, the results are amazing.I hope that helps.Best regards.
