I have a droopy eyelid. My question is if you use eyelid tape on the droopy eyelid for months will it even out the eyelid?

Doctors recommended to perform a surgery on this to fix it but I saw a lot of patients had scars on their faces after the surgery. Will eyelid tape even my eyelids out?

thank you for your question. Taping your eyelid up is unlikely to affect the underlying Anatomy that is resulting in the droopiness. Minimally invasive surgery is often the best option to correct ptosis and can sometimes be performed without a skin incision. Consider seeing an oculoplastic surgeon in your area for a consultation. Hi. Greetings from the UK. Presumably your previous consultations with surgeons have informed you that you need some sort of tendon/ aponeurosis repair for a ptosis of your eyelids. No- eyelid tape will have no effect on elevation of the eyelid margin itself although it can help if your eyelid drooping is due to hooding rather than ptosis. Yes rarely ptosis surgery can cause scarring of the skin as with any transcutaneous surgery but that's pretty rare and most patients heal well without any problems with almost invisible incisions hidden within the skin crease. If you're really worried about scar formation from ptosis surgery then some surgeons do offer this via a posterior transconjunctival approach. Best WishesDavid

If there is a real ptosis present in at least one eyelid, and a dehiscence in the levator aponeurosis, the chances of correction with any type of taping method is zero.  All taping is just a cosmetic temporary adjustment that is not in any way a solution to a real problem. You need to see a surgeon in person who can evaluate you for a possible ptosis repair and eyelid asymmetry. Any general plastic, facial plastic, or oculoplastic surgeon who has experience in ptosis repair can adequately solve your problem. Be sure to choose a surgeon who has ptosis repair experience not just cosmetic blepharoplastry experience. The scar from a ptosis repair is in the natural upper eyelid crease where all standard blepharoplasty incisions are done and is inconspicuous and not a concern

Hi and welcome to our forum!
A droopy eyelid (eyelid ptosis) can be congenital (present at birth) or acquired and is caused by a weakened eyelid levator muscle due to either muscular or nervous dysfunction.
If an underlying condition is identified, it should be treated. Surgery can be performed to tighten the levator muscle and improve symmetry. Unfortunately taping of the lid will be of no benefit.
I recommend evaluation by an oculoplastic surgeon.
