Went to a chain dental and made a huge mistake letting them talk me into extracting all my uppers and getting dentures. I look 10-15 years older and it has made a substantial change for the worse in my appearance. I would like to have a plan to reverse this sunken in, no lip, clownlike appearance. Where, or with what type of specialist do I start? Do I try new dentures, fat graft, fillers, facelift., or what to at least resemble my former self?
Answer: Aging after dental extractions Aging certainly can occur or seem accelerated after dental extractions and dentures placement. The upper jaw bone can resorb in an accelerated manner decreasing the height of the face and causing the tissues to appear to be collapsed or sagging. 1. I would first visit with a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon to assess the need for bone grafting and possible dental implants to help restore vertical height. 2. Then I would visit with a general dentist or a prostatitis to create a quality set of dentures that further establish is your dentition and your lower facial height.3. At that point if you're still displeased with your facial appearance, visit with the board-certified plastic surgeon for complete physical exam and consultation to discuss your concerns and to see if the fillers versus facelift would be an appropriate solution

Answer: Complete dental restoration with implants to stem the tide of total tooth extraction. It sounds as though you would benefit from implants and possibly bone grafting for both functional and aesthetic reasons. You may want to consider consulting with "clear choice" that does restorations in one day.

Answer: How can I reverse the dramatically aging effect getting upper dentures has caused? I am sorry about your negative experience with your dental procedure.Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without seeing photosand without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. I would suggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Sunken in look with dentures It's very hard to give you advice without seeing the actual problem you're describing. Some patients I've treated have had similar issues with aging and loss of normal dentition resulting in a long and sunken upper lip. If this is the case, there are many solutions, the best of which is a Lip Lift procedure. Still, i can't give advice without seeing what you're looking for.
