Can a rhinoplasty help with sinus infections?

Question

I am extremely prone to sinus infections especially when i fly (which is every week for my work). I am considering a rhinoplasty and wondering of it can/ will help correct/aid in solving my frequent sinus infection issues. If yes, please shed light on this

Hello! Thank you for your question.As far as I can understand from your question. If you have a Sinus problem you need to get a surgery about sinus. Rhinoplasty wont be fix this problem.It would be better face to face consultation.Best regards!

We need to find out what's causing this problem. If there is a condition that prevents the sinuses from opening into the nasal cavity, this situation may be eliminated first and then you may need to undergo rhinoplasty. Therefore, first of all, you need to be examined.

It is better for you to consult an ENT surgeon who can evaluate your recurrent sinusitis. In general, rhinoplasty surgery alone will not solve your sinuses problem.

Can a Rhinoplasty improve a history of sinus infections? A Rhinoplasty alone would not address the issues that may cause sinus infections. If a deviated septum is involved than a septoplasty may help. If the sinus drainage is an issue direct sinus surgery may be necessary. But a cosmetic Rhinoplasty alone should not reduce the incidence of sinus infections.

Hi there! Sinus issues can sometimes improve if airflow is improved during the rhinoplasty for breathing problems. But, many times, the sinuses are separate from the nasal structure. If you haven't had a CT sinus, that may be a great start. Being an ENT as well, I perform a work-up of chronic sinusitis first before considering a rhinoplasty. The reason being is that the healing will be better if the chronic inflammation is controlled first. This is often accomplished by nasal hygiene and, in some cases, treatment of the sinusitis via medications or sinus surgery. Hope that helps!
