Hello! Most of the time, patients will complain about drooping or excessive flare when smiling. Some of that is inherent to the structure of the face and smile muscle strength. But, there are things that can be done. A caudal septal extension graft at the tip provides an anchor point to prevent excessive movement of the tip. If the nostrils are too wide, an alar base reduction can create narrowness and develop scar tissue which will resist some of the untoward effects of flaring when smiling. Hope this helps!

Therefore the aesthetically pleasing features of a smile include a tip which does not droop during the smile and nostrils which do not flare excessively during the smile.
