when i review my nose projection from my side profile, the distance between eye base and top of nose looks fine. The distance between the tip of the nose and where the nostril touches the face looks too much. How do surgeons fix this ?

Nasal tip projection is reduced by a number of maneuvers which involve trimming the lower lateral Cartilages which comprise the tip. the domes are trimmed. the lateral wings can be trimmed, and the Foot plates of the medial crura of the columella can be trimmed. The columella is the strut between the two nostrils and acts like the pole of a tent. To reduce the height of the tent must reduce the length of the pole. If you wish to reduce the width of the nostrils then an alarplasty or alar base resection can be performed. In some cases both reduction of projection and width are performed during rhinoplasty.
