Did I wear a helmet and exercise too soon after Botox?

Question

6 days ago, I received Botox injections (1st time) on brow line to lift brows and on crowsfeet. I saw effect in 48 hours, amazing - lines on forehead disappeared. Day 4, post treatment, I went on a strenuous bicycle ride (2 hours) - I tried to wear helmet it as loose as possible - but hard to do. On day 6, post treatment, some lines on my forehead have re-appeared and eyebrows don't seem to be as 'lifted'. Is this normal at 6 days or did I make a mistake by cycling / wearing helmet too soon?

Generally, you want to avoid heavily massaging the injected area within the first 24 hours after getting BOTOX®. After that time, the product should have settled, so your exercise and helmet six days afterward is very unlikely to have affected your results. Keep in mind that it can take up to two weeks to see your final outcome from BOTOX®, so I would suggest giving it a little more time before assessing your results. Hope this helps!

Hi gone2cycle,The question you ask is an excellent one.  If you received Botox the appearance or results are gradual.  Commonly at around day for people still have motion, the full range, but it takes greater expression to create the "before" effect.  At 1 week the line share of neuromodulation has taken effect, but diffusion takes a full 2 weeks.  I do feel that your results that you saw in the first 48 hours were due to a  "placebo effect".  Not that that's bad, you just think positively :)Be healthy and be well, James M. Ridgway, M.D., FACS

It takes 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Deeper lines may need additional Botox in combination with fillers, lasers and microneedling/prp. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Exercising after Botox will not affect your results.   Your bike helmet has not caused any problems.We always ask our patients to give us a call if they have any questions/concerns after Botox treatments.Occasionally, a little touch up is necessary.

Thank you for your inquiry. Botox results are fully seen 2 weeks post injection. So dont be discouraged yet. Wearing a helmet and exercising 6 days post Botox should cause no harm to your results. Wait the full 14 days and reassess.

It typically takes 2 weeks for your final results so I wouldn't pass judgement just yet. Wearing a helmet at 6 days post injection shouldn't affect your results. Best of luck.

Hello Gone2cycle - I would give everything more time. If you had Botox injected, I typically tell patients it takes 7-14 days until the final effect is seen. If you are not satisfied at that time, then I would return to your injector to compare before and after images and discuss a touch up injection if necessary. It is doubtful that anything you mentioned would affect the results of the injection.

Exercising should not alter the benefits of your botox treatment.  I usually have my first time botox patients schedule a follow-up in 2 weeks to see the full benefits of the treatment and to do any additional treatments, if needed.  I would recommend scheduling a follow-up with your provider.
