Is it safe to get botox and fillers after a tooth abscess which had caused jaw swelling.

Hi I recently had an infection under my tooth (abscess) which caused my gun to swell. I was on a curse of antibiotics keflex abd the swell is no longer there. Wicks it be safe to get botox in my massetter muscles and juvederm filler in my lips.

Hello, and thanks for your question. As long as all signs of infection and swelling are gone, you should be fine to get BOTOX® and fillers. However, just to play it safe, I would suggest checking in with your doctor before making an appointment for injectable wrinkle treatments. You might also want to disclose this information at your BOTOX® consultation just to be sure that there isn't still a risk of complications.

It would be prudent to wait until all of the swelling from your tooth abscess subsides before getting Botox as it will throw off your facial symmetry. Best of luck.

There is no need to rush while you are experiencing other problems that may require first priority. Plus doing fillers and botox while your face is swollen to any degree may mislead and alter aesthetic outcome. Once the infection has fully resolved then it's absolutely safe. Good luck, Dr. Daniyar
