I'm in good health and look a lot younger than my age. My issue is that I was always petite (4'10-1/2", averaged around 90-95 lbs. most of my adult life). I quit smoking in my mid-40's and shortly thereafter went through menopause. During this time and thereafter I gained weight and fat, mainly in my stomach and waist area. Would cool sculpting and then a tummy tuck be my best action plan? I want to fit better in my clothes.
Answer: Reducing fat around waist and stomach CoolSculpting is commonly used to reduce fat around the waist and stomach. This procedure will not tighten skin however. If your main problem is only excess fat, then you could be a good candidate for CoolSculpting. If you have excess skin as well as excess fat, then a tummy tuck may be more appropriate for you. Ultimately, an examination of you would be needed to determine which procedure would be most beneficial for you.

Answer: A Candidate for CoolSculpting at 72 Thank you very much for your question. CoolSculpting is a wonderful option for patients looking to decrease areas of isolated fat. From your information, it sounds like you might make a good candidate for the noninvasive treatment. The ideal patient will be in overall good health, frustrated with stubborn fat, yet with generally good skin elasticity. I suggest scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, experienced with CoolSculpting and body contouring techniques. He/she can perform an in-person examination of your abdominal tissues and skin to determine if CoolSculpting is right for your needs

Answer: Coolsculpting for abdomen and waist area. Thank you for your question! CoolSculpting is a great, FDA-approved treatment for fat reduction of the abdomen. Coolsculpting relies on Cryolipolysis due to the fact that fat cells are more sensitive to cold than are other tissues. We utilize the new Cool Advantage applicators which are much more comfortable and reduce treatment time to 35 minutes. The advance cooling technology selectively targets and eliminates fat cells gently and gradually without affecting the surrounding tissue. Patients in our office have seen an average fat reduction of 20-25% with each treatment. Depending on the patient's body composition and outcome goals, it generally takes more than one treatment to achieve optimal results. A second treatment is general scheduled 30 to 45 days after the initial treatment. It takes about 2-3 months to get a general idea of the final results. The results are long-lasting as long as you maintain a stable healthy lifestyle. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon well versed in all aspects of body contouring to determine if your an ideal candidate for CoolSculpting. Best of Luck ,Andrew T. Lyos, MD, FACS
