In the U.S. Navy, desiring Breast Augmentation. What is your experience with military members?

This is a great question and in my experience I have not seen any issues with breast augmentation on patients who are in the service, whether it has to do with recovery or with navigating the military system.  I do think it's important to give yourself enough time to recover, in particular when it comes to performance evaluations, but otherwise I do not see any obvious roadblock to having the procedure.

Thank you very much for your service for freedom.As a current Navy Medical Officer, I have extensive experience working with military members in the field of cosmetic surgery, And there are no restrictions for cosmetic surgeries in their holiday period.You should consider that you will need at least four weeks of rest after breast augmentation surgery.Ps.: Recovery after BAIn my practice, after performing a BA I recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that, you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard, it's not advisable to carry weight to prevent the implant out of position, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling. Therefore, swimming and high performance sports, is usually released after 1.5-2 months of surgery.Finally, I recommend you always use a therapeutic bra.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Thank you for your question and thank you for your service.  As a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, I have had the privilege of caring for many patients who are currently serving in the armed forces.  My advice would be to plan your leave carefully in order to provide yourself the proper amount of time to heal.  Most breast augmentation patients can return to their normal lifestyle including exercise within 4-6 weeks following surgery. Best of luck,

Hi.... thank you for the question ... I have experience working with military members, and there have been no problem with them, as part of the Union World, they have not have any problem with this type of procedures. 

I spent 10 years in the USAF and do have a lot of military patients and / dependents in my practice. We offer 10% discount off surgery for active duty military personnel. I had no problem with medical excuse from physical activity for military personnel until I think they are ready. Breast augmentation is the most common procedure followed by liposuction with or without Brazilian Butt Lift that I do in military personnel. 

I've never had any particular problem with the military objecting to elective cosmetic surgery. Because of the rigors of the profession convalescence is always an issue.

Thank you for your question. Having worked with a number of military personnel, I have not run in to any issues with the military limiting the opportunity at aesthetic surgery for one of its members. Perhaps you could be more specific with how they are limiting you?  If it is finding enough time for the recovery period, you would need to find upwards of 6 weeks or so, based on the activity level/conditioning you are undergoing to allow for appropriate healing. Thank you for your service. I have had the privilege of taking care of many patients in all branches of the military. These patients have done well without any specific issues/concerns.  Time off work concerns are usually cleared through the usual chain of command.  Other concerns such as returning to physical activity (PT)  and drug screens need to be worked out prior to surgery. Having operated on a number of  military personnel, the one advice I can give is to time this as far as possible from any scheduled fitness evaluations. I've seen women soldiers asking if they can be ready in four weeks for evaluation, and the answer to that is no. It takes about 6 weeks to resume upper body fitness exercises, and probably about that long again to be back to before surgery status. That said, these women have done fine. Having life stability is the most important factor.  All the best. 

Thank you for yourservice to our country.I have had many women in my practise who have been active members of the military who have successfully chosen to have breast augmentation.  I have never had any of them report to me that they were prohibited from having  cosmetic surgery.  It is important to pick a date for surgery  when you can take some time for recovery. A breast augmentation will not interfere with your operating at full strength and capacity.
