Hello! Thank you for your question! Age alone is not a contraindication to a surgical procedure. There are a few medical comorbidities that contribute to a higher risk during any surgical procedure including infections, wound complications, delayed wound healing, bleeding, anesthetic risks, etc. Factors such as diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart problems, lung problems, etc are more common in the elderly. However, if you are healthy, or these conditions are well-controlled, you would certainly still be a candidate for a surgical procedure. If your complaints or desires are great enough to consider the surgical option, I would seek a consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your complaints and go over the options as well as risks and benefits of the procedure. You should obtain medical clearance from your primary care physician that you are at an acceptable risk for undergoing a surgical procedure. For elective or aesthetic procedures, your surgeon may want to get you to a reasonable health status prior to consideration for a procedure. Discuss all of your medical comorbidities and medication with your surgeon prior and discuss these risks. Also, discuss this with your anesthesiologist as proper monitoring and medications will be watched closely. This procedure should still be very safe for you and hope for an uncomplicated course with an excellent result! Hope that this helps! Best wishes!
If you are healthy both physically and psychologically then you are certainly not too old for breast augmentation. I know of some patients who are older than you and have had the surgery performed. It is important to follow your surgeon's pre and post surgical care instructions. Best of luck!
Hello,Thank you for your question. As long as you are cleared by your physician, and understand the procedure's risks and benefits of this type of elective procedure it should not be a problem for you.The only additional consideration is tissue quality, and if any associated procedures are necessary (such as a breast lift)- this is best determined in your consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.I hope this helps.Thank you,S.P. Age is not a contraindication for breast augmentation. If you are healthy, you can undergo the procedure. After age 55 we like to get a medical clearance from your primary care physician and an EKG. In my practice we do a lot of breast augmentations and I prefer intravenous sedation for the procedure. See a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.
If your health is good, and we have a medical clearance-- and you are a candidate for breast augmentation-- then the surgery can be performed. Seek an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for in person consultation.
Thanks for your question! In my opinion, you're never too old to do something that will make you feel great! However, at my practice, we do make patients of a certain age undergo additional pre-admission testing to make sure you are healthy for surgery. Please consult a board-certified plastic surgeon for further information. Good luck!
If you are considering a breast augmentation at 62, the key is that you consult a board certified Plastic Surgeon who can help you decide if you are a good candidate. The second most important factor is that you are in good health. I recommend that you explore your options based on the quality of your skinthe symmetry between your breaststhe quantity and quality of your breast tissueyour nipple size and positionyour muscle and chest sizeTogether with your Plastic Surgeon and after a thorough discussion of your goals, you should explore which type of implant will best achieve your desires for breast enhancement. This preoperative experience should allow you to understand the best options for you based on your health status, your desires, your body type and your activity level. Implant selection, saline or silicone, round or shaped is the key step to best accomplishing your goals for a safe long lasting result. Good luck!
Not at all. Age is just a number. This is a short outpatient procedure. I would emphasize that anyone over the age of 50 needs a full medical clearance for undergoing any type of elective surgery, but beyond that I think it is not unusual, and I have had a number of patients in my practice that have decided to pursue breast enhancement in their 60s and they have all done extremely well. I hope this helps. Good luck!
Breast augmentation is a personal and individual decision and is not based on age. If you are in good health and interested in breast augmentation, consult a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss your options. Best of luck in your decision
Great question.Youroverall health is the most important determinant whether you qualify to have anelective cosmetic surgery.Depending onthe procedure, age is secondary.Pleaseconsult a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who is a member ofeither ASPS or ASAPS.You may googlethese terms and locate the closest your surgeon in your area.
You have a fabulous result in your photos. I caution you in that you would need to balance your desire to go smaller with possible sagging and scaring. Your present implant appears to fit your body habitus fairly well. Reconsider....Good luck and be well.
There are no studies to suggest that chest work after a breast augmentation (even in the submuscular location) is harmful. In my nearly 10,000 implants I've performed, I've never restricted patients' ability to exercise their chest and instead encourage a fit, healthy lifestyle. Our results h...
Thank you for your question and photos. I'm sorry about the appearance of your right breast. It appears that the implant has been placed below the inframammary crease on your right breast. This is technically called a double bubble. In most cases this requires a fairly...
