Can biting/chewing cause Juvederm in lips to dissolve 1 month post injection? (Photo)

Question

Hi! I got 1cc of juvaderm in my lips about a month ago. I bite/sorta chew on the insides of my lips somewhat absentmindedly when I’m working or otherwise doing something on autopilot. I looked at my lips and they seem smaller. I don’t know if it’s because I’m used to them now or if i somehow dissolved the filler by biting my lip. Help please! Is this even possible?

No, it is unlikely that this would make your fillers dissolve faster. If you haven't achieved your desired results, additional filler may be needed. I hope this helps.

No, it is unlikely that chewing or biting the inside of your lips will make your filler dissolve faster. Keep in mind, you had swelling which lasts for 1-2 weeks after injections and was impacting your initial results. Best, Dr. Emer

Hello Sara. I am not aware that biting your lips can cause you dermal filler to dissolve faster. It's not entirely impossible to rule out, however. I suggest you meet with your injector for an exam and discussion on this issue. Be sure you're avoiding tobacco.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Chewing or biting on the lips should not diminish the size of the lips no matter what product has been injected. You may want to try using products from the Restylane family in the future as it may last you a bit longer. Discuss this issue with your treating physician. Good luck from New York City
