Mons pubis reduction. Worried about fat coming back.

Mons Pubis is generally treated with liposuction. However after having children it may need to be respected as part of a tummy tuck procedure.

Hi and congratulations on your recent baby! A fatty mons is a common concern for many moms and I have treated it on hundreds of patients. I have not seen the fatty tissue in the mons pubis return after liposuction in my practice. The area can be liposuctioned safely and the recovery is pretty comfortable for most. Best, Dr. ALDO

Your concern is not uncommon. Liposuction or other forms of direct fat excision is a permanent reduction in the number of fat cells and tissue in an area so it would be extremely unlikely to recur in that area even with mild weight gain. If you are planning more children you may be wise to wait till the pregnancies are all done for it may significantly change your surgeons suggestions for your best options.  Even a very slim person may need some skin excision (variations of mini-tummy tucks) after a couple pregnancies, and this may allow more precise contouring of the mons region. A board certified Plastic Surgeon will guide you in making the right decisions for your needs as well as help you time this relative to pregnancies. Good luck and have a great holiday.

Thank you for your question.  I think you should have good long term results with liposuction.  It is important to think about your timing.  If planning to have more children son then wait and if planning to wait some time in between children have lipo done sooner.  There is always a chance the area will change over time or need a touch up but it should never come back as badBest Wishes!

Hi-  Yes it may happen again so I would suggest to wait until after having kids and be at your goal weight so you can optimize your result. Liposuction of the mons is a very good procedure with high patient satisfaction. Good Luck!

Fullness in the Mons pubis it's related to either excess fat or skin laxity.

Often it's a combination of both.

Patients who have any skin laxity in other areas, have had previous pregnancies or weight loss are more likely to have fullness from skin laxity.

If the area has to take layers of fat in the skin is tight then well done liposuction should give you a long term or permanent results.

You will not re-grow fat in this area.

Try lifting the skin of the lower abdomen above the Mons pubis. If this flattens out your mons pubis really well then liposuction alone may not give you a great results.

For patients who have skin laxity hey skin resection it's often needed either with or without liposuction it to get the very best results.

An inperson  evaluation with an examination is needed to determine which procedure will work best for you.

These procedures can be done using local anesthesia or using General Anastasia depending on the plastic surgeons preference.

Consult with several board-certified plastic surgeon's in your area to get a more accurate assessment.

Liposuction of the Mons is very satisfying to patients who need the procedure. It is unlikely to recur, but if it does...so what. It's a simple procedure to repeat.
