I recently went to a plastic surgeon about having something done about my nose however he politely turned me away due to my nose not being bad enough for anything to be done. He also said that because there wasn't much that could be done he might make the issue worse. I was wondering that because ultrasonic rhinoplasty is more precise, is it likely that something could be done. The only thing I want changed about my nose is it to be straight and in the middle of my face as I had an accident.

Answer: Crooked nose I agree your nose is crooked and might benefit from rhinoplasty. Get other opinions but don't get hung up on the ultrasonic thing. Find the best surgeon you can . The ultrasonic us just a tool. Also your first surgeon seems like he may not be a rhinoplasty specialist, and wanted to bow out gracefully.

Answer: Correcting asymmetry and irregularity along the dorsum Thank you for your question and photographs. The nose is divided into the upper 1/3 (nasal bones), middle 1/3 (cartilage part of the dorsum and upper lateral cartilages) and lower 1/3 (nasal tip, lower lateral cartilages). Based on your photographs in frontal view, you have a disproportionately wide upper 1/3 and a pinched middle third. A complete assessment would require more photos from different angles and an in-person examination. But based on your photos, the contour irregularity which bothers you can generally be corrected by reducing the height of the nasal bones and performing osteotomies (shifting the nasal bones inwards to narrow the upper 1/3 and achieve symmetry). This can be performed with ultrasonic instrument or traditional instruments, depending on what technique the surgeon is most comfortable and proficient with. Next, additional cartilage support would be added to the middle 1/3 to increase support to the nasal valves and correct the width. It is important to seek opinion from a Rhinoplasty expert, and to obtain 2-3 consultations with different surgeons before deciding to proceed with rhinoplasty.Best of luck!Dr. Giriraj Sharma; Facial Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, CA
