Should I consider a revision on upper/lower blepharoplasty? 6 months post op, different eye shapes. (photos)

Question

I had a facelift in Istanbul with an upper and lower bleph in March this year. One eye is a different shape to the other and I am looking to establish if revision eye surgery is a possibility. I have lost faith after thinking I chose a very good surgeon only to now realise he was not as skilled as I thought and I worry the damage is irreversible.

Hello @JacquiO1821, thank you for your question. Generally the two sides of the face are not the identical. It is helpful to see the before pictures, because you can see that the eyebrows are also different. In a blepharoplasty, the expression of the eye is altered, since excess skin and fat are removed, but the shape of the eyes does not change. Best wishes. Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.

I am compelled to answer this question to perhaps bring to light the fact that we CANNOT comment on results that are: 1. too soon after surgery to criticize, and 2. have no before photos for comparison.  We don't know how much if any of your asymmetry is pre-existent.  We also have no idea exactly what procedures and techniques were performed.  A blepharoplasty is not a blepharoplasty is not a blepharoplasty.  Your question also brings to light the problem of surgical tourism.  Having had your surgery in Turkey gives you now limited access to your surgeon for follow up and advice.  Post your before photos if you want further input on this forum.  Good luck!

Hi. My first preference for all revision cases is ''wait''. The waiting period is about 12 months. It is early to decide a revision surgery. Revision surgeries are much more complicated than first performances.Please be patient.Best wishes.
