I am 27 weeks pregnant, and my left breast implant (saline over the muscle) has deflated. My right implant has a CC and it’s very uncomfortable. I want them removed now so I have time to heal and will be more comfortable trying to breast feed. My OB and my plastic surgeon have cleared for me to have Local only at the hospital (1% lido to numb incision site. Will place drain tubes for a few days also. The risk of anything happening to baby seem very minimal from what all we’ve discussed. Safe?

Answer: Is saline implant removal while pregnant with local anesthesia only safe?
In very limited circumstances should implants be removed under local anesthesia. If it is recommended to have your capsules removed as well general anesthesia will be needed. If you have a relationship with the surgeon who performed your augmentation you may want to consult with him/her.
The plastic surgeon can examine your skin elasticity prior to surgery. One way to tell yourself is to look at any area where you have stretch marks. If you have had children and have no stretch marks, this is a good sign that you have good skin elasticity.
Dear laurassssss,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.
