When can I wear a normal bra after implant removal?

How long after Breast implant removal can I wear a normal bra? And will I ever be able to wear a wire bra with my scars right on crease?My original BA incisions were via arm pit so never had to deal with crease incisions.

The best advice will come from the PS who removes your implants as post-operative protocol varies from PS to  PS.  My patients like the support and compression of a snug fitting sports bra for four to six weeks after breast implant removal.  After three to six months, some patients prefer to switch to underwire.

Thank you for your question. I recommend a compression bra in the immediate postop period. Patients are able to transition to an underwire bra once their incisions have healed. Ask your surgeon for his specific protocol. Best of luck.

I would say that in case of implant removal the approach will be different from case to case depending on how much breast tissue and skin you are left with. Normally I would say sport bra for six weeks.. if was a large implant maybe 3 monthhs.. Ask to your surge what are his preferences.

Thank you for your question.  In general, I have patients wait 4-6 weeks after surgery to let the crease incision heal.  Some wired bras can put a lot of pressure on that incision, which could cause problems with wound healing.  That time frame can change depending on how those incisions are healing.

Many patients can wear a normal bra about 4-6 weeks after surgery, but as opinions vary it is best to check with your surgeon to find out what is best for you.  Many patients can return to wearing an underwire bra once surgical scars are healed.

As a general rule, one can wear a normal bra after 4-6 weeks post surgery. Sports bra or medical bra is used for that length of time (4-6 weeks after surgery) also at night mainly for comfort and splintage. If after that time you feel that it is still uncomfortable to wear e.g. underwired bra then stick to a soft bra for a little longer, but I suspect you will be fine in a normal bra a month after surgery. To be 100% sure please check with your plastic surgeon as well what their views are.
