I am currently 5 weeks post op and am wondering whether a topical cream, silicone strips or scar massage is best to reduce the redness/raising of the scars? I was given biocorneum after surgery, however tried the Embrace strips as well. I didn’t find them the most comfortable, but am wondering if they make a dramatic difference in the ultimate outcome (less redness/raised scars)? Or, will the topical & scar massage work just as well? Thanks!
Answer: Scarring After Breast Lift Every surgeon has their own protocol post-breast lift surgery for treating the incisions. The Embrace strips are beneficial to use because they reduce the tension on the skin, which is the cause of scarring. Minimizing tension aids in keeping the scars thin and flat vs the risk of them becoming wide and raised. They should be used 1-4 weeks after suture removal and for a period of up to 60 days. BioCorneum is a good product as well. It can be used on new or old scars to soften and flatten raised scars, reduce redness, relieve itching, and it also protects the scars from discoloration caused by sun exposure. It's not possible to tell you if one is going to work better for you than the other. I would suggest using whichever one you feel you will commit to using during your recovery.

Answer: Treatments such as Vbeam, Resurfx, Injection therapy, and scar serums are great in helping to minimize appearance of scars. Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: What is the best scar treatment after having a breast lift/aug resulting in an anchor scar? hello thank you for your question and provided information as well..based on the case, the ideal is to see what you mean with a broad scar ,because it would be necessary to evacuate the delineations of the border because, for example, if it respects edges, we call it a hypertrophied scar that with silicone tape can be improved, because this will prevent it from rising.if it does not respect edges we call it keloids that already there with steroids injected.my recommendations that you consult in person with your certified plastic surgeon and see your case.
