I am interested in getting 425 cc Mentor HP Smooth Round Implants. My width is just 12.0 cm. In the Mentor ref. guide it recommends only 375 cc. I really want the 425 cc. Is it okay for me to go with the 425cc or will they look too fake, uniboob?

Answer: Most appropriate implant Selecting the best implant for the patient is an important decisionDuring your consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon you should expect to receive a very detailed explanation about which is the best size and type for you.Not only your breast dimensions , but also your skin quality.Sometimes is not safe to choose a too big of an implant. In your particular case base on your information, going from 375 to 425 doesn't seem to be too big of a difference.i would recommend going smaller to prevent future complications like implant displacement or bottoming out.Honestly hope this help youNV

Answer: High Profile Breast Implants vs Medium Profile Breast Implants In general, a high profile implant will give a rounder look that some would argue looks more artificial or fake. But this opinion is subject to individual preference. Using an implant with a base diameter up 12.5 cm (Mentor HP 425 cc silicone) whether it be a high or medium profile would be acceptable if your breast base measurement was 12 cm with a few exceptions. 1) You must have average tissue thickness meaning you are not "rib showing thin" with AA cup breasts. If not an implant base matching or slightly larger than the measured breast base would have an unacceptable high risk of edge visibility and/or rippling. 2) You should have a minimum 2 cm intermammary distance with good adherence of the tissues to define the cleavage plane between the breasts. If the breasts are already touching and the medial border is not adherent to the breast bone or "floating," then the chance of synmastia or "unaboob" becomes too high when the base of the implant matches or is slightly wider than the measured breast base. Allowing for an extra 0.5 cm or 5mm is reasonable otherwise since the extra distance is divided up on either side of the implant. The pocket for the implant is extended 2.5 mm on either side, which is the length of the letter "m" on this page. That small distance is within measurement variability and acceptable in my view. As an alternative you could use Natrelle silicone high profile Style 20 which has a base diameter of 12 cm. I hope this helps and I hope you have a safe operation and a smooth recovery.
