Breast implants/infertility. Should I get them removed?

There is no evidence that removing your implants will improve your chances of becoming pregnant using IVF. The question becomes although no one knows whether removing the implants will help, how important is the pregnancy vs. the implants.  If the implants are less important to you than the remote possibility that you might have better luck with IVF if they are removed, then you should consider removing them.  The implants can be replaced.

There have been no studies or case reports to date of implants having any affect on fertility or IVF. The implants do not have any systemic affects and would unlikely contribute to infertility. Hi, jobee1974. Sorry to hear about your difficulty with getting pregnant.  There is no evidence indicating implants causing fertility problem. If you feel more comfortable without implants, it is up to you to have them removed.  Please discuss it with your Ob.  Best wishes.

Infertility issues can certainly be very stressful however, there are no studies that would suggest the implants are the cause of your infertility or raised inflammatory markers. Having said that if you would feel more comfortable having the implants removed then by all means do so. I hope this helps, Good luck.

There is no reason to think that breast implants should in any way be affecting your fertility.  Removing them would likely do nothing more than diminish your self esteem.

There is no evidence that implants interfere with conception.  That would not be reason to remove them. 

I am sorry to hear of your difficulties with having a baby, however, there is not evidence of implants causing fertility issues. I always tell patients who have not yet had children that there is nothing about your implants which can prevent you from getting pregnant, having a baby or nursing. Every pregnancy is different but having implants does not affect your likelihood of pregnancy. I wish you success in the future and remain hopeful you will be successful. 

By this time, a tremendous amount of research has been done on the biology, immunology, and toxicology of silicone and silicone breast implants. The institute of medicine published their findings confirming that there is no credible evidence that links silicone to any systemic disease or side effects. So medically and scientifically, I would recommend keeping your implants if you are otherwise happy with them. If on the other hand, your emotions and anxiety are more powerful than the science, you can remove them and return to your natural shape
