I had a lipoadminoplasty done with diastasis recti repair. Unfortunately I had a large area of fat necrosis and couldnt wear compression garments. 6 months later my stomach has lost all shape and the dr said it's because my fascia stretched out. Is there anything that can be done about it now? If i had worn the compression would that have helped? It's very disappointing esp considering the agony of the necrosis. I am 165 cm and weigh about 68 kg. Thank you.
Answer: Regaining Abdominal Shape After Lipoadminoplasty with Diastasis Recti Repair Thank you for reaching out regarding your concerns about the outcome of your lipoadminoplasty with diastasis recti repair. I understand how disappointing it must be to not see the desired results after undergoing such a procedure. It is important to note that every patient's body reacts differently to surgery, and while most patients see positive outcomes, there are some who may experience complications or less than desirable results. Fat necrosis is a known risk associated with liposuction, and unfortunately, in your case, it has resulted in the loss of shape in your abdomen. In cases where the fascia stretches out, it can be challenging to regain the previous shape through revision surgery. However, there are options available that can help improve the appearance of the abdomen. It is essential that you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in revision surgery to determine what the best course of action is for you. Regarding the compression garment, while it can help minimize swelling and aid in the healing process, it may not necessarily prevent fascial stretching or loss of shape. However, it is always recommended to follow your surgeon's post-operative instructions carefully to optimize your results. I empathize with your frustration and disappointment, and I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon or seek a second opinion from a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in revision surgery. They will be able to provide you with the best course of action moving forward. I wish you all the best in your recovery journey, and I hope you achieve the desired outcome you were hoping for. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

It is convenient to evaluate in person to obtain a better understanding of the potential for change and improvement as a result of surgical and non-surgical processes and to have expectation according to what the specialist can do. Answer: Abdomen has "lost shape" after abdominoplasty with postoperative complications Hi and welcome to our forum! Fat necrosis after abdominoplasty is an uncommon complication, and occurs most often in patients suffering from diabetes, collagen vascular disease, or atherosclerosis, or who develop postoperative infection, or vascular compromise. It most often occurs at the anterior midline at the flap junction (where the blood supply is poorest) and may result in delayed healing / later scarring. Revisional procedures are available, depending upon the size and location of the unfavorable scarring. Revisit your plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion. Best wishes...
