Thanks for your question on lip augmentation. It sounds like your upper lip fold is a concern and this can be addressed with a small amount of filler. To assess whether this will perform well with lip augmentation I think you should consult with an expert injector. Warmest regards, Dr. ALDO
Thank you for sharing your question. This crease is a part of your normal anatomy and goes largely unnoticed by most people. If you had a particularly gummy smile Botox can help improve this appearance, while lip augmentations should be kept subtle to not deepen the crease. See an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation for the best recommendations.
My go to lip fillers are softer for patients like you. I suggest you see an expert to give improvement but not much size as not to alter your anatomy. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your photos. Your upper lip crease that forms when smiling is a normal anatomic variant when some people smile. If you have your lips volumized with injectable filler, the natural crease should not interfere. If it bothers you a great deal when looking at yourself in the mirror, you can have that area injected with a very small amount of thin filler to blunt the creasing. Keep in mind that too much filler in that are will give you a longer upper lip which does not appear natural. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD Plastic Surgery
you have that crease because your lip rises when you smile and the crease is where it bends to accomodate the rise. It's normal. The person who sees it the most is you. If you filled it it might keep the lip from rising when you smile and look odd. I think you have beautiful lips.
It would be helpful to have photos of you with and without a smile. The extra "pulling" that you see when you smile may be treated with Botox or Dysport. For volume loss, a dermal filler, like Restylane, can be added. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
There is no actual surgery to elongate or make the mouth wider. In fact, a small mouth is considered more youthful and as one ages, the mouth actually widens. One can opt for hyaluronic dermal fillers that can be used to augment the lips including juvederm, Restylane, and Volbella. Additional...
Dear annemadsen2:I have only seen scarring after lip augmentation (by which I mean areas of firmness that can be felt) once. This occurred in a celebrity who had gone to another dermatologist who used a filler that should not be used in the lips, likely Radiesse or Artecoll. We were able to r...
