Multiple encounters with impetigo on lips causing damage to lip shape and outline?

Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to hear of your recurrent infections. I would first work with your internal medicine doctor or dermatologist to identify the cause of your recurrent infections in the hopes of eradicating or reducing their prevalence.  I would then recommend posting photographs of your lip asymmetries so that the best treatment option can be recommended.  Fillers can often be used to help correct volume differences. Have you had your nose cultured?  You may be prone to carriage of staphylococcus aureus, particularly to MRSA.  This can be a source of skin infection.  Treatment of the staph can reduce the bacterial load but it can also reoccur.  Consultation with a knowledgable facial plastic surgeon can be helpful regarding this issue.

So Sorry you are having this problem, but photos would help to fully answer this question. Generally speaking lip asymmetry can be treated with fillers, if lips are on small side, or modified reduction, if lips are large. Either one may be suitable for you. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for guidance. Good luck!

I would definitely consult a board certified dermatologist to help understand why you are having repeated skin infections.  Impetigo can't really change the shape of your lips but photos would help as well.  Best, Dr. Green
