I had lip injections 5 hours ago and doing fine.

Thank you for your question. It is best to avoid alcohol right after injections. They can cause swelling, and make bruising worse. It would be best to wait a full 24 hours.

I would wait until the following day, you dont want to take a risk and have the blood thin and brusing happen.

I would advise against any alcohol consumption prior to your treatment to avoid swelling and excessive bleeding since alcohol will thin the blood. A glass of wine the same day as your lip injections is fine. We do however advise our patients to avoid heavy salt or alcohol the same day as filler because they can contribute to swelling but will not cause any harm medically.

It is fine to drink wine afterwards. Alcohol does tend to thin the blood slightly so its not recommended to use prior to the procedure. If you have bruising, its also not a good idea because it can lead to further bruising.

I would avoid alcohol for 24 hours after injections to avoid any increase in potential bruising or swelling.  Arnica also helps decrease the chance of bruising.  Best, Dr. Green
