Ambivalence about neck lift and lower face lift vs. submentoplasty at age 39 - recommendations? (Photos)
I have had three consultations with renowned Bay Area surgeons about my submental area and I also mentioned the beginning of jowling and tissue laxity in my lower face (though the submental area is my main concern). All 3 surgeons thought a neck lift would be in order, but 2 of 3 thought i was a good candidate for a submentoplasty instead of a neck lift and they weren't convinced I needed a lower facelift yet. The third surgeon disagreed with me being a good candidate for a submentoplasty and thought I needed a neck lift, and if I had a neck lift that I should treat the lower face as well. However, at only 39, I'm feeling hesitant to do a facelift. But I see her point that if I do a neck lift, there would be an imbalance with the lower face and mild jowls. And I imagine the jowling will bother me enough in 5-7 years that I'll want to do a facelift then anyway. I'm torn about what to do. Would it be crazy to do the lower facelift with the neck lift at 39, or do you think it's reasonable? Should I stick with a submentoplasty and maybe some ultherapy on the jowls, and then do a facelift 5-7 years from now? I'm also trying to take into consideration the downtime and ideally not doing multiple major surgeries within a short period (I am also getting a lower bleph and brow lift with this submentoplasty or neck lift or face lift.)
