Could Bellafill be partially removed during a facelift?

Hi, I am considering a facelift, and one of my main goals would actually be to remove some of the bellafill (PMMA) filler that I had injected in my cheeks a year ago. I can see how the results of this could not be guaranteed and would likely only result in partial removal... but is it possible at all? Would some of the scar tissue created by bellafill be visible and able to be removed during a facelift? Thank you!

Based on your description it is possible to partially remove some Bellafill (PMMA) and its associated scar tissue during a facelift, but complete removal cannot be guaranteed. Because Bellafill is a permanent filler that integrates deeply into your natural facial tissues and muscles, attempting to aggressively cut it all out carries a high risk of damaging critical nerves and compromising your final facelift results. An in-person consultation and examination would be needed to determine the exact location of the filler and what level of safe removal is realistically achievable in your case.

Bellafill is a permanent PMMA-based filler and, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, it cannot be dissolved with an injection.
In selected cases, some of the filler-related scar tissue, nodules, or visible irregularities may be partially removed during facelift surgery if they can be clearly identified and safely accessed. However, Bellafill may be distributed diffusely within the tissues, so complete removal is usually not possible and should not be promised. Aggressive removal could also create contour irregularities or damage healthy tissue.
The appropriate approach depends on the amount, location, and depth of the filler, as well as whether it is causing any visible or palpable problems. A detailed examination and, when necessary, an ultrasound evaluation would be helpful before planning surgery.
